Viaka Newsletter: Resources from our Network addressing the ongoing crisis
In response to post last week, Network members asked that I amplify these initiatives:
From a Network Member in Gaza:
The best way for people to help is by speaking up, educating others about what’s going on, writing to their leaders, protest, etc.
What’s going on here is a massacre and is a reflection of what the world is or should not be.
From BuildPalestine:
We created a trusted list of organizations for financial donations: https://buildpalestine.com/2021/05/15/trusted-organizations-to-donate-to-palestine/
We are running a specific campaign to support a Psychological First Aid hotline for people from Gaza. These services are facilitated by Hakini, a Palestinian mental health startup:
From the 2048 Fellowship:
The 2048 Fellowship is a year-long program designed to support Palestinian creatives in bringing their ideas to life through financial and mentorship support.
To date the 2048 Fellowship has awarded three grants.
Our first Fellow, Bayan Abusalameh is a mechanical engineer working to design Palestine’s first satellite, PALESTINE_1.
The second Fellowship went to Adam Ghanim, a medical student and CEO of Manjam Records, the first Palestinian record label based in the Gaza strip.
The third Fellowship is going to Askadar, an art school based in Nablus offering different programs to children ages 7 to 13 in music, art, theatre and dance.
2048 Fellowship is looking for donors to support 4-6 more Fellows over the course of 2024
If you’re interested in financially supporting the 2048 Fellowship, reach out to me directly (hani@viaka.net)
Next week, this newsletter will return to its standard format & timing. Each Monday, we highlight the work of individual Viaka Network members, share relevant events, and post job opportunities, etc.
However, please continue to share resources like those above, either with me directly, or via our Network’s slack workspace.
Best,
Hani
That’s it for this week. Thank you!
