We spoke with Brennon D’Souza, the founder of DIBZ
What's are you currently working on?
I'm currently the CEO of DIBZ, A Sportstech startup which does text messaging seat upgrade and informational service used in professional sports, and concerts. We have also grown our services to other verticals like the Travel industry, and working with Airlines for seat upgrades on planes, and Airport traveller information service through text messaging
What's the "origin story" behind your current full-time job(s)?
DIBZ was born out of the need for using SMS technology to engage and convert patrons in the fastest and simplest way possible, which is text messaging. We started DIBZ because we found how much unsold seat inventory exists at the start of big sporting events and concerts, and how patrons had no access to current availability information. We used that concept to convince professional sports teams and leagues to use our method with their fans to grow revenues.
Why are you interested in connecting with MENA’s global startup community?
I'm interested in connecting with MENA's global startup community because we are engaging more with the MENA region and making connections to the GCC Airports and Airlines. There's tremendous potential and opportunity to grow, and connect with skilled professionals in the region.
What's your favorite part of the Viaka Network thus far? Do you have any memorable experiences or helpful connections made that you can share with me?
The Viaka Network is very easy to engage with, there are a lot of opportunities to connect, and find people that are like minded. The network consists of skilled professionals with a lot of experience in their roles. I have attended a startup up VC and funding talk in Dubai and have made some tremendous connections there.
How can members of the Viaka Network (and beyond) be most helpful to you and your work right now?
As we start to make waves in Dubai and the UAE ecosystem, we would like to connect with skilled talent as we start to hire and add to our growing team.
Bonus: favorite dish from the MENA world?
This would have to be Moutabal/baba ghanoush

Reads of the Week
Network members are encouraged to submit media suggestions to our Reading List
Kyle Harrison is a writer I’ve been enjoying more and more over the past few months. This recent piece is a great read (ironically) about books, their efficiency as a tool for learning, and their future.
That’s it for this week. Thank you! 👋
